Welcome to the Dixon Highschool Art Final for Spring 2006

Posted by Lisa Higby LeFevre in 01 WELCOME!

This blog will be used to document the process of Dixon Highschool’s three advanced art classes and survey classes as they develop their final art projects for the Spring of 2006.   These art projects will be installed at Distinctive Gardens in Dixon, IL.  There will be an art opening on Friday, May 26th from 6-8 pm.  We hope you’ll make it out.

Use the navigation bar to the right to explore all of the projects.  The Artificial Obsolescence & Hope Project- AO&H GENERAL PROJECT INTRO category introduces the basic theme and explains how it will be staged on the grounds of Distinctive Gardens.

Under AO HALF OF PROJECT INTRO you will find Trash Plants and Tree Jewelry projects.  Under HOPE HALF OF PROJECT INTRO you will find Eco-Chairs, Environmental Installations, Hope Sculptures projects.

Enjoy and please post a comment if you wish.

We are off to a slow, but steady start. A recycle list is being circulated (contact the DHS art department if you are interested in a copy of the list), sketches and sculptures are in the works. The Dixon High School art students are developing amazing ideas for this exhibition.
    Our goals are-
*to heighten awareness of a serious situation that seems to have found it’s way to the bottom of our countries list of priorities. The fact is, without clean air to breathe and clean water to consume none of our countries “urgent” issues will seem very “urgent” when we can’t breathe or hydrate our population,
*to call attention to the forgotten teens, the ones that don’t make the news because they are focused on friends, family, and school rather than drugs, alcohol, and crime.
Please, enjoy our effort to include you in the process, as well as joining us to view the finished product.

I just wanted to say that all of us have worked really hard to do somthing that we enjoy in one way or another. I hope that all of you come and see the art that we made. Everyones work is great and I know that we all will enjoy showing off what we did! I also want to thank Ms. Kastello and Mrs. LeFevre for the opportunity to show what we can do. Thanks!
